Bone Broth Hot Chocolate
I’m sure that the title of this recipe has already piqued your interest. Many people would assume that this combination of flavors would simply not work out. But oh how wrong those many people would be!
I will never miss an opportunity to upgrade a classic recipe with ingredients that boost my gut health. So when I saw a bone broth hot chocolate recipe for the first time, I knew I had to try it out for myself. Shopping at the farmers markets gives me access to amazing, nutrient dense, bone broth sourced from ranchers who strive to utilize as much of the animal as possible. I’ve also gotten in the habit of purchasing beef bones from the market to make my own bone broth at home.
Whether you’re a skeptic or already completely onboard, I highly suggest you give this quick recipe a try. I’m sure you’ll find a new guiltless pleasure!
At the farmers markets, multiple of our ranchers sell bone broth. Not only is this stuff an amazing way to utilize as much of an animal as possible, lowering overall waste, it’s liquid gold in terms of nutritional value.
Bone broth is rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium essential for fertility, a healthy pregnancy and postpartum healing. It also contains gut-healing compounds like glutamine, glycine, collagen and proline that reduce intestinal inflammation and support your thyroid gland.
And if you think the chocolate is just some fluff to appease the kids, think again! New research suggests dark chocolate feeds the beneficial bacteria in our gut, which uses the antioxidants and fiber from it to make anti-inflammatory compounds with numerous health benefits. Make sure to choose a brand without any emulsifiers that can disrupt gut and hormone health.
