Rooted Garden

Get to Know Houston Gardening

Check out the team that is on a mission to show locals that gardening in Houston is fruitful year-round, and the woman who started it all, Nicole Johnsey Burke

After a lot of time invested in her own passion project, Nicole learned how to leverage the right tools and techniques to successfully grow a thriving kitchen garden in her own backyard.

As friends started seeking out her advice for their own gardens, Nicole founded Rooted Garden, a kitchen garden company that has served more than 250 clients and designed more than 100 residential raised kitchen gardens.

Nicole's passion is to see everyone confidently connecting with and growing their own food and to promote culinary gardening as a normal part of every day life once again.

We’re trying to let people know that there is no bad time to start your own garden in Houston. You can grow and harvest here 52 weeks a year!

Going on 7 years and 400 gardens strong, Rooted Garden helps their clients achieve their gardening goals by designing custom kitchen garden plans and executing installation for longevity. Not only do they provide turnkey kitchen garden construction, they keep you growing with access to coaching and maintenance each season, ensuring 52 harvests from your kitchen garden every year.

All RG kitchen gardens come with our Four Key Structures:

Custom Raised Beds, Beautiful Metal Trellises, Distinctive Borders and Convenient Pathways

Rooted Garden isn’t just a landscaping company that overhauls a space and leaves you to your own devices. Clients become a part of a community that RG has been cultivating since its inception. As a client, you have access to monthly events that connect you with other gardeners and provide educational opportunities to continue building your knowledge base.

This past Spring I had the pleasure of speaking at one of these monthly meetings, sharing my story and doing a demo with veggies that you can grow yourself. It was lovely being around a group of people who are striving to better connect with their food. It is a sentiment that I strive to convey through my content and the farmers markets I operate.

Rooted Garden will have a stall space at the Heights Mercantile Farmers Market this coming Sunday, November 13th. Stop by to chat with their team about gardening tips and tricks, initial consultations, and check out some of their signature trellises that will be available for sale!
